Memphis will get $71.2 million from the federal government to upgrade Lamar Avenue, according to Rep. Steve Cohen. Cohen said Tuesday the city will get the funds through the U.S. Department of Transportation Infrastructure For Rebuilding America (INFRA). The funds will be spent for "roadway repairs and capacity upgrades," on Lamar from the Mississippi/Tennessee state line to Getwell, he said. “This is a huge win for Memphis and will be a game-changer for our city and the region," Cohen said in a statement.
